Eastbourne - Eastbourne Pier

Eastbourne - Eastbourne Pier

One of the last remaining Victorian piers in England, Eastbourne Pier is a seaside pleasure pier in East Sussex. Formally opened by Lord Edward Cavendish in 1870, the pier is built on stilts that rest in cups on the sea-bed allowing the whole structure to move during rough weather. At the end of the pier is a tower that is often used as a viewing point during the annual air show. The city of Eastbourne, dubbed as the sunniest place in England, attracts over 4 million visitors a year.
