Dubrovnik - St. John's Fort, Lokrum Island and City Harbour

Dubrovnik's old city harbour got its present-day look in the 15th century under the construction of local engineer Paskoje Milicÿevic«. It was part of the fortress wall that protected the city from military attacks over the centuries. The harbour can be found in the same area of the pre-Romanesque Cathedral and the later Rectors Palace. Its most prominent features are the arches of the large arsenal that were built since the late 12th century. At present time, the large arsenal houses a city cafŽ and a theater while the harbour is still filled with small fishing vessels and yachts.
