Ljubljana - Ljubljana Castle
Ljubljana Castle is a medieval castle on a hill in Slovenia's capital Ljubljana, offering a panoramic view of the city. It was built on a prehistoric site, with beginnings going back to the 9th century, although the castle is first mentioned in 1144. It was a royal residence in the 17th and 18th centuries and a prison and barracks in the 19th and first half of the 20th centuries. At present time, the castle holds a museum and a 19th-century Pentagonal tower with a viewing platform.
