Stockholm - Skeppsholmen Church and AF Chapman

Skeppsholmskyrkan is a church on the islet of Skeppsholmen built 1823-1849 to replace a minor wooden church on Blasieholmen destroyed in the fire of 1822. It was designed by Fredrik Blom as a neoclassical cathedral temple inspired by the Pantheon in Rome. The AF Chapman & Skeppsholmen Youth Hostel occupies a three-masted sailing ship that is permanently moored on Skeppsholmen, an island near the city center. The ship, which entered service as the Dunboyne in 1888, once carried passengers between Ireland and Australia. It was a Swedish Navy barracks ship during World War II and has been an STF youth hostel since 1949.
