Painstakingly reconstructed after WWII left it in tatters, brightly-painted Burgher houses line each side of the Square, their steeply-angled rooftops forming a splendid sawtooth skyline. The Town Hall stands out as the spectacular centrepiece, with its 66m tower, gothic and baroque reliefs and astronomical clock.
