Wroclaw is home to more than 120 bridges that connect the 12 islands on which the city is built. One of the most famous bridges of Wroclaw is the Grunwaldzki Bridge or Most Grunwaldzki. Built in 1908-1910, it measures 112 meters long by 18 meters wide. It was opened for King Willhelm II of Germany. After WWI the bridge was named The Bridge of Freedom, but was changed again to Grunwaldzki bridge when the German Army had started their occupation in WWII.
