London - Greenwich Foot Tunnel
There are entrance shafts to the foot tunnel at both ends of the river, and both are capped with bright domes that are filled with white-glazed tiles. This one is on the south side in Greenwich. The tunnel cost £127,000 to build in 1902, a sum which, in these days, would barely buy you a tiny flat in London.
