Helsinki is the capital and largest city in Finland. It is in the region of Uusimaa, located in southern Finland, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, an arm of the Baltic Sea. Helsinki is a sea-town and about half of the city seems to be water. This includes bays, inlets and a speckling of islands. The heart of the city is its harbour and taking the ferry to neighboring countries is an essential experience while in Helsinki.
