Santorini - Dawn in Fira
Across the deep-blue Aegean Sea in the center of the Santorini basin, it's hard to miss the small island of black lava which is Nea Kameni. Nea Kameni, which means 'new burnt island' in Greek, is a small uninhabited island of volcanic origin formed over the past two millennia by repeated eruptions of dacite lava and ash. The island, which has a diameter of about 2 kms, can be reached by boat from Santorini and visitors can climb a gravel path to reach the top of the 130-meter-high volcanic crater.
