Dubrovnik - Stradun
The Stradun is historic Dubrovnik's main street that is enclosed by the old fortress walls. This limestone-paved pedestrian street measures about 300 meters long connecting the western entrance Pile Gate to the eastern entrance, Plocÿe Gate. Stradun was the Dubrovnik's (then known as Ragusa) main thoroughfare in the 13th century. Stradun and the surrounding area were devastated during the 1667 earthquake and were also damaged during the war of 1991Ð92. Most of it has been repaired through the years. Many of Dubrovnik's historic buildings and monuments can be found along the Stradun, making it a popular esplanade for tourists.
