Alicante - Castillo de Santa Bárbara from Harbour
Alicante's iconic Castillo de Santa Bárbara or the Santa Bárbara Castle is an old fortification that stands on top of Mount Benacantil. This castle dates back to the 9th century during the Muslim's rule of the Iberian Peninsula.
The harbour of Alicante has been an important part of its economy for many centuries and even once served as the port of Madrid. Nowadays, folks can also enjoy a beautiful promenade, many cafés and restaurants and entertainment centers that sit along the Sports Marina where sailboats and recreational crafts seek safe haven.
