Tallinn - St. Nicholas Orthodox Church

Tallinn - St. Nicholas Orthodox Church

St. Nicholas Orthodox Church is a neoclassical building built with win bell towers and copper dome, built in 1820-27 and designed by St. Petersburg court architect Luigi Rusca. The church's history, however, goes back further in 12th century when a marketplace for Russian merchants operated in this side of Tallinn. In 1442, when the town wall was being rebuilt, the church that stood at the centre of that market was replaced by a new one at Vene Street.
