Right beside the imposing Bled castle is another distinctive structure of Bled - the Parish Church of St. Martin. This neo-Gothic church was designed by Friedrich von Schmidt in 1905, the same architect who designed Vienna's city hall and Votive Church. The Parish Church of St. Martin was built on the site of a previous 15th century Gothic church altrough there had been another chapel erected on the same site before the year 1000.
