The Prince's Palace of Monaco is the official residence of the Prince of Monaco and is the heart of the political and social life of this city-state. The Palace, built in 1191, is located in a unique setting on the site of a fortress erected by the Genoese. During its long and dramatic history it has been attacked by many foreign powers. Today, one can admire the splendor of this palace, not only its magnificent architecture, but also its Italian-style gallery and 15th century frescoes.
