]]>The Viking Ship Museum is located at Bygdoy in Oslo The main attractions are the Oseberg ship, Gokstad ship and Tune ship. Additionally, the Viking Age display includes sledges, beds, a horse cart, wood carving, tent components, buckets and other grave goods. Many fully or nearly fully intact Viking ships are on display. Its most famous ship is the completely whole Oseberg ship.

]]>Oslo City Hall, or Radhus, is a large red brick building situated near the Oslo harbor, was built in 1950 to celebrate the city's 950th anniversary. One of the city's great landmarks, this massive four-square building, built of concrete faced with brick, was designed by Arnstein Arneberg and Magnus Poulson. It has two towers; in the one to the east is a carillon of 38 bells. The facade is decorated with sculpture and reliefs.

]]>Akershus Fortress or Akershus Festning is a medieval castle that was built to protect Oslo. It was constructed in response to the Norwegian nobleman, Earl Alv Erlingsson of Sarpsborg's earlier attack on Oslo. Akershus has also been a prison, a section of it known as The Slavery as the prisoners could be rented out for work in the city. It has housed many rebels and criminals through Norwegian history.

]]>In 2002, the Eternal Peace Flame was installed permanently at Aker Brygge, a complex on the Oslo Harbor frequented by hundreds of thousands of people each year. A landmark on the port, the Eternal Peace Flame burns brightly and serves as a beacon of light and inspiration. It is a donation to the city by World Harmony Run founder Sri Chinmoy.

]]>The 2011 Norway attacks were two sequential terrorist attacks against the government, the civilian population and a summer camp in Norway on 22 July 2011. The first was a car bomb explosion in Oslo within Regjeringskvartalet, the executive government quarter of Norway, The second attack occurred less than two hours later at a summer camp on the island of Ut¿ya. This was one the most horrific events in the country's history. Norway mourns the massacre victims and have made makeshift memorials including this one at Oslo Cathedral.

It serves as an outlet for the river Akerselva. Since the 2000s, it has been undergoing urban redevelopment, being transformed from a container port. The neighborhood will be Oslo's cultural "center."

]]>The Oslo Opera House is the home of The Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, and the national opera theatre in Norway. The structure contains 1,100 rooms with the main auditorium seating 1,364 seats and two other performance spaces that can seat 200 and 400. The angled exterior surfaces of the building are covered with Italian marble and white granite and make it appear to rise from the water. It is the largest cultural building constructed in Norway since Nidarosdomen was completed in 1300.

]]>Vigeland Sculpture Park covers 80 acres and features 212 bronze and granite sculptures all designed by Gustav Vigeland. In 1940 the Bridge was the first part of the Sculpture Park to be opened to the public. 58 of the park's sculptures reside along the Bridge, a 100 meter long, 15 metre wide connection between the Main Gate and the Fountain. All are clad in bronze and contribute to the Human Condition theme of the park. Here visitors will find one of the park's more popular statues, Angry Boy.
