The local name for the building is Casa dels ossos (House of Bones), as it has a visceral, skeletal organic quality. It was originally designed for a middle-class family and situated in a prosperous district of Barcelona. The building looks very remarkable like everything Gaudi designed, only identifiable as Modernisme or Art Nouveau in the broadest sense.

It was a controversial design at the time for the bold forms of the undulating stone facade and wrought iron decoration of the balconies and windows, designed largely by Josep-Maria Jujol who also created some of the plaster ceilings. Architecturally it is considered an innovative work for its steel structure and curtain walls – the facade is self-supporting. Other innovative elements were the construction of underground car parking and separate lifts and stairs for the owners and their servants. In 1984, it was declared World Heritage by UNESCO.

One of the highlights of the building is the Arab hall, a richly decorated hall that follows the Neo-Mudejar style and resembles the decorations found in the Alhambra of Granada. Multiple images are reflected on its glassy surfaces. They stretch up, a stream of gleaming glassy bubble. Each sphere simultaneously reflects itself, its neighbours and all the components that make up the tower. We see our own repeated reflection and that of the architecture that surrounds us. The angle of the images changes as our gaze moves up the sculpture.

Tall Tree and the Eye conveys the transient nature of how things appear. Through its complex use of light and shade, volume and space, it makes us aware of the instability of the visible world. Time and place are suspended and altered. Though it is a very large piece of sculpture it comes across as somehow weightless and ephemeral.

First created in 1992 for a temporary exhibition in the German city of Arolson, Puppy--a symbol, according to Koons, of "love, warmth and happiness"--was a contemporary artwork that captured Koons's sculptural imagination, horticultural dexterity, and engineering skill.

It dates from the 4th century BC and was brought to Madrid in 1971.
The Templo de Debod once stood in the Nile Valley of Egypt, 31km (19 miles) from Aswan. Built in the 4th century BC, it was dedicated to the god Amun and the goddess Isis.
When the new Aswan Dam threatened the temple, the Egyptian government decided to give it to Spain in gratitude for its help in saving Abu Simbel. The temple was carefully dismantled in 1969-70, then put on a ship to Valencia followed by a train to Madrid. There it was reconstructed and opened to the public in 1971.

The palace reflects the splendor attained by the kingdom of the taifa of Zaragoza at the height of its grandeur. It is the largest surviving example of Islamic/Spanish architecture from the Taifas period, it is the only large building from the time of Muslim rule in Spain that can be seen outside of Andalusia region.

Arenas de Pablo. It allows access from the Meandro de Ranillas area to the neighbourhoods around Delicias Station. Its most remarkable feature, visually speaking, is its bowstring arch, with stands at 270 metres, the longest in the world. Its design and structural aesthetics make it a flagship for the new millennium.

For three hundred years from the late 16th Century, the towers served as a prison. During the 19th Century, the city walls were demolished to make room for the expanding city. Although much restored, the gateway is a fine example of Gothic defensive architecture. From the battlements are panoramic views.

It leads from Calle de Alcala, close to Plaza de Cibeles, to Plaza de España. The lively street is one of the city's most important shopping areas, with a large number of hotels and large movie theaters; it is also noted for the grand architecture prevalent among many of its buildings. Now, most of the theatres are being replaced by shopping malls. It is considered a showcase of early 20th century architecture, with patterns ranging from Vienna Secession style, Plateresque, Neo-Mudejar, Art Deco and others.

Built in the early 13th century, the tower served as a prison during the Middle Ages and as a secure enclosure for the protection of precious metals periodically brought by the fleet of the Indies, another possible origin for the tower's name. Nowadays, the restored tower is a naval museum, containing engravings, letters, models, instruments, and historic documents.
