The most remarkable structure of Piran is the Church of St. George. It has a beautiful interior containing the 17th-century statue of the town's patron saint, St. George, slaying the dragon. The paintings in the church are the work of a Venetian painting school, which includes 2 large paintings of the Mass in Bolsena and St. George Miracle painted by Angelo de Coster.
