Piran - The Church of St. George

St. George's Church which rises dominantly on a hill overlooking the city of Piran, was named after the town's protector - St. George. This baroque church built on Romanesque foundations was built in the 12th century with major renovations following shortly, including the addition of a bell tower, which is a scale copy of the San Marco Campanile in Venice.
